Vasiliki Prestidge hosts Judith Gabler on 'Championing a diverse and inclusive workplace culture'

As a steering group member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists' Business, Professions and Government Division (CIOL BPG), Vasiliki will be hosting Judith Gabler, Chair of CIOL Council, for her much-anticipated 'Championing a diverse and inclusive workplace culture' online talk on the 19th of August.

The following content was originally posted on the CIOL website

The need to develop a diverse and inclusive workplace culture has gained in awareness in recent years. Many employers have recognised that it is a key element for attracting and retaining talent, and that the more diverse and mixed teams there are, the better it is for business. Large companies have resources for investing in their talent pipeline but what about smaller companies and self-employed single practitioners, and how do they create and sustain a diverse and inclusive culture with clients, colleagues and working in teams? Different industries face different challenges, and so how does it look for the language profession and what can we all do in our workday practices to stay informed?

Diversity is about respecting differences and individuality; inclusion about creating an environment where differences are embraced and where all people feel, and are, valued. The talk will shine the light on seven basic principles based on personal experience where we can all contribute towards a diverse and inclusive culture in our respective business communities.

Key takeaways:

  • Learn more about the role of leadership in creating inclusive and diverse workplaces,

  • How organisational culture is at the heart of releasing talent and resourcefulness

  • How leading business practices can help overcome challenges and create opportunities for change
